Leap of Faith
You offered me a gift:
A key that unlocked something inside me.
Really it wasn't you, God offered it to me through you.
I knew it was God when with your touch I felt moved
by a heavenly force. Even before I decided whether or not to
take the key - to take the leap, I knew it would change me deeply and forever.
If I don't take the key, then that's where it ends,
just with a touch, my heart intact.
Ah, but if I take it… can I become like a child, open and willing,
to live, to love, to you…
Can I become like a tree, all twisted and knowing,
growing this way and that
But always growing nonetheless.
Can I become the random genuine self I was intended to be?
And if I take this key
am I offering myself to Thee Oh Lord
to be laid out and vulnerable before this human man who is your
channel to my heart?
Oh great faith that is required to take this gift
after so long searching and empty
Why is it so hard to trust?
